Well, you get the idea. Why do we do this? Many of us are trying to "fill the holes" in our lives with food, through "emotional eating "or "compensatory eating."
We may even eat when we're bored. But all emotional and compensatory eating has three things in common:
1. It has nothing to do with legitimate physical (biological) hunger.
2. It will never solve our emotional problems or fill the emptiness we feel.
3. It will make us get fat -- and stay fat -- no matter how many diets or exercise programs we try.
This confirms what I had already discovered in my own coaching practice: It's not what goes on our plates that determines whether we win or lose at fat-loss. It's what goes on between our ears.
But why do our own personal beliefs play such a powerful role in fat-loss success?
Because it's fundamental psychological fact that we do what we do in life because we think as we think. And what controls our thinking? Our own personal beliefs!
So if you frequently "cheat" on your diet or "skip" your workouts, then you need to understand that your own "self-sabotaging" beliefs are at the root of it all. And more importantly, until you replace your self-sabotaging beliefs with healthier, more self-supportive ones, you will keep on doing what you've been doing -- with the same frustrating results.
